LOCATION: Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, MI

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carries out all aspects of the program necessary to accomplish the objectives of the sport within the university, the athletic department, WHAC and NAIA contexts
• Assists with the recruitment and retention of highly skilled student-athletes
• Orients and enforces student-athletes’ adherence to the policies and regulations of the university and athletic department
• Assists with coordination of all travel arrangements
• Prepares and conducts practices
• Administers the off-season training program
• Provides special training for individual team members as required
• Seeks to build relationships of influence with team members that positively impacts their spiritual and personal growth as followers of Jesus Christ
• Other duties may be assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred with successful experience in coaching and/or playing
• Good organizational, communication and coordination skill essential
• Ability to work well under deadlines and high pressure situations
• Ability to recruit student-athletes with potential for academic and athletic success
• Represent Cornerstone University in a Christ-like, professional manner to many different internal and external constituencies, consistently exhibits enthusiasm toward the institution

• A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment.
• A theology and Christian worldview that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University evidenced by an ability to affirm and sign the university’s doctrinal statement, “The Cornerstone Confession.”
• Enthusiastically embrace the Cornerstone University Identity, Mission and Vision statements.
• Physical requirements include the ability to navigate our physical campus, use computers, and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.

• Salary: The stipend paid for this part-time role will be discussed with interview candidates. Please note that part-time assistant coaches are not eligible for benefits.
